Just a few minutes from La Bastide de Marie, this former fishing village is now one of the most unique destinations in the Luberon.

Originally known as “L’Isle en Venaissin,” the town still retains the many canals that crisscross and surround it. A legacy of its past as a fishing village, water shapes the entire landscape here. Nicknamed the “Venice of the Comtat,” L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue charms visitors with its architecture and unique atmosphere. As you wander through the narrow streets, you’ll discover beautiful Gothic facades, examples of southern Baroque art, and a well-preserved heritage that gives the village its depth.

Today, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue has become a must-visit destination for antique lovers. The famous Village des Antiquaires de la Gare brings together a discerning selection of dealers, where antique furniture, rare objects, and collectibles can be discovered as you wander through the aisles. An avid antique hunter, Jocelyne Sibuet regularly returns to some of her favorite spots there. These are carefully chosen spots where every object tells a story, and where discovery comes as much from what you see as from your intuition. The village is home to several hundred dealers, gathered in iconic locations such as the Village des Antiquaires de la Gare and Le Quai de la Gare. Antique furniture, decorative objects, rare pieces… every space invites you to explore.
On Sundays, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue takes on a whole new atmosphere. The market spreads throughout the town center, featuring a mix of food, crafts, and secondhand goods. The atmosphere is lively, almost festive, yet remains pleasant thanks to the nearby water and numerous shaded areas. On Thursdays, a more laid-back, local-focused market offers a more relaxed shopping experience. It’s one of the most famous markets in Provence!
After L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, returning to La Bastide de Marie feels almost natural. The vineyards, the silence, and the contours of the landscape give the day a new rhythm. A glass of wine from Domaine de Marie, dinner at the restaurant, a quiet evening… It is this balance between activity and tranquility that makes the stay so enriching.
